HOW IT WORKS
Most of us have mixer taps in our kitchens or bathrooms. To start the flow, you lift or tilt the handle upwards. However, on a standard model, when the handle sits in the middle, the tap draws both hot and cold water. That means every time you rinse your hands or fill the kettle, your boiler fires up, even if you didn’t actually need hot water.
Coldstart taps open ONLY the cold water valve whilst in the centre position, keeping the boiler off by default. Turning the handle to the left begins the hot water supply, which is when the boiler is engaged, allowing you to blend from warm to hot as needed. Because the handle doesn’t turn to the right at all, it’s easy to find (and return to) the cold-only centre position every time.
